HOT STRAWBERRY ICE-CREAM SAUCE
WE USED TO HAVE THIS FOR DESSERT ALL THE TIME AS KIDS, AND IT'S ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT TAKES ME RIGHT BACK TO BEING EIGHT YEARS OLD AGAIN!
As part of my Flavor Ideas series, this week I'm sharing five gorgeous strawberry desserts, and I know your entire family will love this Hot Strawberry Ice-cream Sauce.
The beauty of this sauce is it's a little bit salty - sounds strange, but the salt from the butter perfectly balances all the sweetness and takes it from ho-hum to game changer!
You can easily make it unsalted, or with margarine, but I advise using butter for the salty aspect and for a richer flavor.
TO MAKE:
In a small frying pan, melt a generous knob of salted butter. Add quartered strawberries and a spoonful or so of caster sugar.
Heat until the sugar has dissolved and the fruit has softened. Serve immediately over vanilla ice-cream.
So there we go! If you missed one of my strawberry ideas this week, you can find them here:
